Canvas of Light – Burton on Trent – 18th – 20th December 2025
‘Canvas of Light’ proved to be a standout festive event in Burton-upon-Trent, transforming two of the town’s most treasured heritage landmarks into a captivating immersive art experience. Over three evenings from 18 to 20 December, St Modwen’s Church and the Bass Water Tower were beautifully illuminated through large-scale light projections created by the acclaimed artists at Luxmuralis.
The installation invited visitors to explore the town in a fresh and engaging way, with the illuminated trail linking the two landmarks through the recently renovated Memorial Gardens. This thoughtful layout encouraged movement and discovery, allowing audiences to experience the projections at their own pace while enjoying the festive atmosphere.
The event was further enhanced by a lively Christmas market and live entertainment, organised by East Staffordshire Borough Council which added warmth and energy to the experience. Families, residents, and visitors alike gathered to enjoy the free event, creating a strong sense of community and celebration throughout the town centre.
Canvas of Light marked a new chapter in Burton’s cultural calendar. As the town continues to evolve, the event successfully showcased its heritage in a contemporary and accessible way. Overall, it was a memorable and uplifting celebration of art, place, and community—one that left a lasting impression and set a high standard for future festive events.
